KATIBAWASAN FALLS – (Camiguin Island, Philippines)
Katibawasn falls is located at the foot of Mt. Timpoong, 5Km(3.1 mi) southeast of Mambajao, it measures 250 ft high. down into a man-made pool surrounded by orchids and wildย greenly ferns.ย Water is superb relaxing and really cold but not good for diving :). From downtown Mambajao, you can hire a habal-habal or multicab that will takes 5-10 minutes travel.
You only have to pay 20 php entrance fee (per person) to be able to see and experience the Katibawasan falls.
The sight of nature was superb and worth it! . It was a perfect place to sink in after a long hours stay in white beach and for me it was even colder than the cold spring :). The falls was simply spectacular! The water was coming from high above the cliff and falling down like a giant shower!!
Reminders that swimming all the way beneath the falls is prohibited and dangerous. It seems tempting to swim beyond where the water is actually falls from the cliff but according to our guide, the flowing water sometimes carries small or big rocks which could fall on a person who is swimming below consider also the current of the water underneath the fall. Better watch also if you can’t swim because the water is also deep. It start shallow and goes deeper as you approach the falls itself.
A must try delicacy made from cassava (kamoteng kahoy for short hehe). Your trip would be incomplete without trying the delicious KIPING. ย It is available at the food stalls outside the waterfall for only 10 php. They serve it with latik ( a sweet sauce made from coconut).
Overall, the place is really stunning and wonderful. If you are a nature lover like me, this spot is worth a visit. Definitely will visit this place again for our next Camiguin adventure.. ๐ this place is love! love! love!! hihi
